Todd and Svetlana Esposito

Todd and Svetlana Esposito are members of our Cornerstone Society, a special group of individuals who have invested long-term in our conservation efforts by making gifts of $500 or more for five years or longer.

Todd grew up playing sports since before he can remember, playing baseball and soccer on a regular basis. This entailed a lot of time spent in parks. As he got older and the dream of being a professional athlete became just a dream, Todd picked up long distance running. And, if you want to run long distance, you need to find green areas. Running became Todd’s passion and avenue to connect with nature on a daily/weekly basis—his own ‘personal Tibet’. For 20+ years, running and nature have become an integral part of Todd’s life. A balance in a normally hectic world.

Svetlana is from the Czech Republic and Czechs have an inherent bind with Mother Nature. For her, nature equals time spent with family and friends. The Czech Republic is small and nature is literally all around them. The Czech Republic is one of the few countries where forest land is actually growing. Every ‘big’ city has enormous parks. If you drive five minutes in any direction, you are in nature. Czechs, typically, have small ‘summer cottages’ where they’ll spend their summers planting crops, showering in the rivers, going on long walks in the forest, and evenings around campfires singing songs. They won’t come back to their main home for two months—and they only come back because the school year begins.

Why We Choose To Support The Fund

As the saying goes, “Land: they aren’t making any more of it.” We both believe it is our duty as creatures of this planet to protect it. Given the growth in worldwide population and big business abuse of natural resources, land conservation is an obvious choice to start. We support all efforts to conserve and protect Mother Earth (i.e. recycle, Kyoto protocol, etc.). TCF focuses exactly on how we want to give back to Mother Earth. Projects range from land conservation to helping local businesses with sustainable projects. While we may not have all the resources to help individually, TCF provides a platform where small people, like us, can make a big difference.

The Conservation Fund has a proven track record of success, passionate people, low cost/best in class ratings, and they’re not afraid to get their hands dirty and do deals. We hope the Fund continues to do what they do: make a difference around the United States through land conservation, urban renewal, and helping small businesses.
