Ben Fryer
Northern California Project Manager
Ben manages acquisitions and dispositions of conservation investments, including land, water rights, and conservation easements, with a focus on working forests and farmland. His responsibilities include outreach to landowners, structuring and negotiating transactions, and developing partnerships with public agencies, non-profits, and the private sector.
Prior to joining The Conservation Fund, Ben was a real estate and finance attorney in the San Francisco office of Winston & Strawn, where he represented institutional lenders, borrowers, buyers, and sellers in transactions across a range of industries. His conservation experience includes work for The Trust for Public Land, and for Paso Pacifico, a non-profit focused on wildlife corridors and community economic development in rural Central America. Ben is also a long-term collaborator of Pilot Projects Design Collective, a Montreal-based design and sustainability consultancy whose initiatives engage cities in protecting and restoring forests.
Raised in Northern California, Ben lives with his wife and son in Sacramento. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. and Master of Forestry from Yale University.
