Christine Lepine

Research Support Specialist, Freshwater Institute

Christine Lepine is a Research Support Specialist assisting in the advancement of technologies for recirculating aquaculture systems. Since joining the Freshwater Institute team in 2014, Christine has been responsible for research on land-based aquaculture water quality and the treatment of waste and wastewaters. Current projects include the development and evaluation of waste-to-value methodologies, such as anaerobic digestion and composting. Additionally, Christine is involved in projects examining the impacts of disinfectants and chemotherapeutants on biological systems. Previous projects have evaluated both autotrophic and heterotrophic denitrification technologies, including woodchip bioreactor research. Christine holds a Master of Science in Natural Resource and Environmental Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Natural Resource Management, from Shepherd University
