Mark Pace, Chattanooga Times Free Press – The Cherokee National Forest is expanding by 1,500 acres near the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga thanks to a partnership between the automaker and The Conservation Fund. Volkswagen will donate $1.25 million to The Conservation Fund to purchase private forested land in Tennessee.

Jeff Kart, Forbes – The Conservation Fund has a goal of conserving 5 million acres of at-risk forests in the next 15 years. They’ve announced the closing of unique 10-year green bonds totaling $150 million. Proceeds from the bonds will go to scale up their Working Forest Fund, which is dedicated to mitigating climate change, strengthening rural economies and protecting natural ecosystems.
