A Future for Good Hope Farm in Cary, North Carolina
Our Vision
The vision of our partnership is to ensure a strong future for Good Hope Farm, create opportunities for local farmers to produce fresh, local and affordable food, and provide educational programs to the Cary community.
Why This Project Matters
Due to rapid growth in the Research Triangle, the price of land has skyrocketed. Many large farms have been taken out of production to create residential developments, and small farms are not only hard to find, but cost prohibitive for most farmers. The creation of Good Hope Farm will address these challenges by licensing plots up to two acres to new and expanding farmers and creating opportunities for farmers to sell their fresh produce right from the farm.

Cary is a thriving community in the heart of the Triangle area of North Carolina, between Raleigh and renowned Research Triangle Park. The Triangle area is repeatedly ranked among the top regions in the country to live or work, to find a home or start a business, to raise a family or retire. Cary has a rich agricultural heritage, and until 60 years ago, was mostly farmland.
Good Hope Farm was built in the early 1910's. The one-story, frame dwelling stands at the center of the farm with German siding and a central front gable. Twelve outbuildings, including two tobacco curing barns, a tobacco strip room, and a packhouse stand behind the house. The project partners see this land as an opportunity for local farmers to produce fresh, local, and affordable food for the Cary community.
Good Hope farm can provide volunteer and educational opportunities for the public to learn about local food production and the agricultural history of their community.
