Back in 2005 the Fund helped Kern River Gas Transmission Company with a mitigation project that protected nearly 741.78 acres of prime tortoise habitat. The project took three years to complete and was accomplished in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The project helped Kern River Gas to mitigate its construction of a natural gas pipeline through Utah.
