But there is hope. For more than three decades, The Conservation Fund has focused on tangible long-term strategies that achieve both environmental and economic benefits. This year, we celebrated our 35th anniversary, and despite the adversities that we faced in 2020, we know there are fundamental values that still ring true for all of us: we all need access to nature; we all need an economy that supports the natural environment; and we all need thriving and healthy communities. At The Conservation Fund, we are here to help.

As we embark on the next 35 years and beyond, we hope you’ll join us. Let’s continue to create positive results that last forever.

An Urgent Opportunity

Saving Exceptional Forests

In 1998, we jumped at the opportunity to purchase and protect nearly 300,000 acres of rich forests in the Northeast. That successful project launched a program that continues to protect America’s rapidly disappearing working forests. Read about one recent project here.

Success In South Texas

Increasing Access

Over the last several decades, we’ve protected 40,000 acres in South Texas. These lands act as a vital coastal buffer against sea level rise and provide habitat to some of the rarest species in the state. Learn more here.

Thinking Ahead for Greenspaces

Conservation isn’t just needed in expansive wild spaces; our local neighborhoods provide critical greenspaces, too. Since 2003, we’ve worked closely with the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan, to protect the critical agricultural and natural infrastructure both inside and outside of the city. Learn more.

Helping Small Farmers

Earlier this year, we set out to address the loss of millions of acres of farmland in and around our cities. We’re focusing first in Atlanta, Georgia, and helping to strengthen farming communities around the city. Learn more.

A Natural Climate Solution

Helping Small Farmers

In 2001, we partnered with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and launched a pioneering flood management program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The program protects and restores natural lands around the city to provide a buffer area where potential floodwaters can be absorbed. Learn more.
