Apple and the Fund Partner to Support Black Landowners in the U.S. South

This collaboration builds upon Apple and the Fund’s previous efforts launched in 2015 to ensure a sustainable fiber supply through forest conservation.

Working alongside our longtime partner McIntosh S.E.E.D., a unique community group with whom we helped establish the first Black-owned community forest in the country, the initiative will support land retention and improved climate practices that can be scaled throughout the region on privately held land.

Through community-centric programming, workshops and trainings, the 1,148-acre McIntosh S.E.E.D. community forest is a place for landowners from oppressed and low-income communities to see and learn sustainable land management practices, while also helping equip and empower them to participate and lead conversations from which they have historically been excluded.
