Partnerships
Apple and The Conservation Fund are teaming up to support Black and minority landowners and community groups across the South that are working to advance sustainable forestry, achieve racial justice and improve climate resilience in their communities.
Over the last 15 years, U-Haul has partnered with The Conservation Fund to offer its customers the opportunity to support conservation outcomes for wildlife, climate and communities across the U.S. Millions of people have chosen to give back, resulting in more than $9.2 million raised by U-Haul and its customers to plant trees, create parks and support local economies.
Over the past 18 months, Volkswagen of America partnered with The Conservation Fund to identify and award five nonprofit organizations near their Chattanooga plant in Eastern Tennessee up to $50,000 each to enhance the community and address environmental priorities. Since then, as part of a larger $1.25 million donation, the Volkswagen Community Grant Program has provided environmental learning and leadership opportunities for local youth, protected forestland, supported clean rivers and waterways within the Cherokee National Forest, and given recreational access to outdoor lovers in the region. Here’s how the recipients have used the awards to help support nature in Tennessee:
As part of our partnership with Volkswagen of America to award selected Tennessee nonprofit organizations with grants to enhance community and environmental goals, we also unveiled a unique mural in downtown Chattanooga by artist Steffi Lynn. The expansive artwork proudly borrows from the Tennessee landscape and serves as a reminder to care for the environment by proudly proclaiming “Change Starts in Your Own Backyard.” We sat down with Steffi to learn about her process, how she finds inspiration in nature, and why the mural’s message is important to her. Read on to learn more.
At The Conservation Fund, we work all year long to protect and uplift success stories about nature, but this month we are particularly excited to celebrate Earth Day with many of our partners in communities across the country. Here’s a short list of some events that we hope inspire you to think about your local environment and how it fits into the larger global network. Let’s all get outdoors this week and do some good!
We are currently advocating enactment of the Great American Outdoors Act, which includes full and permanent funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). If enacted, America will have the greatest conservation legislative victory in over 50 years, with benefits for local communities and the special places we love to visit.
But what exactly is LWCF and why should you know about it?
Dell and The Conservation Fund joined U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and community members in south Texas to plant thousands of trees as part of Rio Reforestation—a community tree-planting event celebrating its 28th successful year. Since the first Rio Reforestation, volunteers and partners have planted nearly 300,000 trees across 775 acres, providing benefits to wildlife, water systems, and climate.
