One of Alabama’s most beautiful and ecologically diverse national forests has gained new protected land. The USDA Forest Service and The Conservation Fund were able to secure roughly 1,000 acres of privately-owned properties within the Conecuh National Forest in southern Alabama.
The Conservation Fund and Jones County, Georgia announced the protection of the historic, 28-acre Jake’s Woods property in Clinton, Georgia, which will become a new county park open to the public starting in 2024.
