Friday Harbor, Wash — The National Park Service (NPS) and The Conservation Fund announced today the conservation and addition of a 34-acre property to San Juan Island National Historical Park (NHP) in northwest Washington. The newly protected land, located along 2,500 feet of pristine shoreline on Westcott Bay, will enable the NPS to enhance the park’s educational and recreational offerings at English Camp.

Phoenix, Az.— Thanks in large part to donations from U-Haul and its customers, The Conservation Fund announced in December that it was on the verge of achieving two spectacular milestones—the planting of its two millionth tree as part of its voluntary carbon offset program, Go Zero®, and a total of one million trees in the ground at Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Louisiana.

Holbrook, Ariz. — Today, The Conservation Fund, in partnership with the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), purchased 4,265 acres within the Petrified Forest National Park (PFNP) boundary. Located in a unique stretch of northeast Arizona, where visitors can see petrified trees that have turned completely into stone during the last 225 million years, the conserved land will enhance protection for the area’s Late Triassic resources and eventually expand opportunities for new scientific discoveries. The Conservation Fund will temporarily hold and protect the land until it can be purchased and transferred to the National Park Service later this year.
