Karen Chávez, Asheville Citizen Times — A one-time Christmas tree farm abutting the iconic Linville Gorge in Burke County is now a sprawling, natural playground for white-tailed deer, warblers and wild turkey, as well as for humans. On the last day of 2020, The Conservation Fund, a national nonprofit land trust, sold the 205-acre Long Arm Mountain property to the U.S. Forest Service.
