The Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve and The Conservation Fund announced the transfer of 560 acres to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Bureau of Forestry. The land will be managed as part of Michaux State Forest, connecting the forest’s northern and southern sections and providing a southern gateway to visitors.

Furthering their commitment to address climate change by protecting and restoring America’s forests, a coalition of companies including Dell, MaCher, New Jersey Natural Gas, Philadelphia Eagles, The North Face, U-Haul and other climate champions are contributing to the restoration of more than 660 acres at Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge, the latest phase of an ongoing effort to reforest more than 1,400 acres with native trees at the wildlife refuge.

Through its Working Forest Fund® program, the Fund is stepping up to quickly acquire large, threatened working forests across the country, including in Pennsylvania, where it recently acquired 32,598 acres of sustainable timberland surrounding the city of Johnsonburg.

Matt and Stacy Crabb have managed ranchlands on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountain Front for the last 11 years. When the opportunity arose for them to acquire more than 8,500 acres to establish and expand their own ranching business, they turned to The Conservation Fund, The Nature Conservancy and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for help.

A 1,054-acre former Girl Scout camp near Dingmans Ferry has become part of the National Park Service’s Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, permanently protecting it from development.

The Conservation Fund, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, announced the expansion of the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge to include a critical component of the largest connected coastal freshwater wetlands in Texas. 8,169 acres of coastal prairie and marshlands that make up two-thirds of Sabine Ranch have been protected thanks in part to funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund. Additional funding is still needed to complete the effort.
