Today, The Conservation Fund, in partnership with local ranchers and federal, state and private partners, celebrates the protection of over 100,000 acres of sage grouse habitat in Wyoming, Idaho and Colorado.

"The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has awarded $5.1 million through its Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) to The Conservation Fund for its partnership efforts to protect and restore longleaf pine on private lands in the Gulf Coastal Plain of lower Alabama. We appreciate the leadership and support of Alabama’s U.S. Congressional delegation—Senators Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby and Representative Bradley Byrne—for this RCPP funding.

"Through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) administered by USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Milwaukee River Watershed Conservation Partnership (MRWCP) was awarded $1,500,000, leveraged by approximately $3,612,500 in partner contributed resources, to implement cost-effective conservation practices that will improve water quality and soil health along the impaired Milwaukee River corridor. We thank U.S. Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin, and U.S. Representative Gwen Moore for the authorization of and funding in the 2014 Farm Bill for the RCPP.

ARLINGTON, Va. — CSX and The Conservation Fund today announced the grant recipients for the 2015 Grant Program for Transporting Healthy Food. Twelve charitable organizations in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia will receive grants ranging from $4,000 to $10,000 to support and strengthen local transportation and distribution of fresh produce and healthy food to communities in need.

CHARLESTON, W.V. —Today, The Conservation Fund announced its purchase of 32,396 acres of working forestland in southern West Virginia that will eventually create the state’s largest, conserved block of prime habitat for elk restoration. In partnership with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), the Fund’s historic conservation purchase will establish a vast protected landscape of sustainably managed land, supporting working forests and forestry-based jobs and increasing tourism opportunities for public hunting and other forms of wildlife-associated recreation.

Norway, Statkraft and The Conservation Fund Initiate a Strategic Greenhouse-Gas Reducing Partnership
OSLO, Norway & SAN FRANCISCO—The Conservation Fund and Statkraft, Europe's largest generator of renewable energy, have formed a strategic partnership to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by purchasing offsets generated under California's pioneering cap and trade program. Statkraft’s purchase supports an investment in redwood and Douglas fir forests owned and operated by The Conservation Fund in California.
