Arlington, Va.—The Conservation Fund today announced that it is partnering with Apple to help protect working forests in the United States. The Apple initiative will conserve more than 36,000 acres of working forestland in Maine and North Carolina, ensuring these forests stay forests and any timber on the land is harvested sustainably.

ARLINGTON, Va.—Virtual tours of some of America’s most important places—its parks, waterways and even battlefields—went online this week in Street View in Google Maps. The Conservation Fund and its partners unveiled a host of sites across the Eastern seaboard that they hiked, paddled, and explored with the Street View Trekker, a mapping tool from Google that allows anyone with a screen and internet access to journey beyond the road for a tour of iconic American sites where The Conservation Fund played a role in permanent protection.

ARLINGTON, Va. (Feb. 26, 2015) – CSX and The Conservation Fund, partners in a program aimed at improving the transportation and distribution of fresh, healthy food to communities in need, announced today grant awards to 10 charitable organizations in Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Tennessee. Each organization will receive $10,000 to enhance food delivery services so that they can bring fresh, nutritious food to their communities.

Phoenix, Ariz.—A new land acquisition for the Agua Fria National Monument by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will provide additional resource protection to natural and cultural resources at two separate locations on Black Mesa between the Interstate 17 Sunset Point rest area and the Agua Fria River to the east.
This week, the BLM acquired 80 acres of the Cross Y Ranch—one 40-acre parcel one mile directly west of the Cross Y Ranch headquarters and another 40-acre parcel three miles north of the headquarters.

IRON COUNTY, Wisc.—The Conservation Fund announced today the permanent protection of the 13,732-acre Twin Lakes Legacy Forest through the sale of a working forest easement to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WI DNR). Owned for generations by Consolidated Paper Company, and recently by timber investors, the Twin Lakes Legacy Forest will now continue to support jobs and provide a sustainable supply of forest products in perpetuity, as it has for the last century, while ensuring and enhancing access to outdoor recreation and protecting habitat for important game and non-game species. The State of Wisconsin funded the project, which closed late in December 2014, with a $4.47 million investment from the state’s Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.
