Minong, Wis. — Washburn County Lakes and Rivers Association (WCLRA) and The Conservation Fund celebrated today the completion of a collaborative effort to protect a 259-acre property along the Totagatic Wild River. During a dedication ceremony held on the property, the land was formally donated to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. — In a high-profile win for forestry, a public-private partnership led by The Conservation Fund has completed the largest conservation project in the history of Sonoma County. Together with its partners, the Fund has purchased and protected the 19,645-acre Preservation Ranch property, a vast forested parcel threatened by development and vineyard conversion. The Fund will sustainably manage the land for timber, carbon sequestration and restoration of coho salmon habitat.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has approved the acquisition of more than 3,000 acres of lesser prairie-chicken habitat as an addition to the Yoakum Dunes Preserve in the Texas Panhandle, which is dedicated to the conservation of this iconic grasslands species.

(May 16, 2013) – Today the United States Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee unanimously passed a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act (FLTFA) (S. 368), which would enable strategic federal land sale revenues to be used for priority land conservation in the West.

CHARLESTON, S.C.—Today, a coalition of federal, state and private agencies officially launched a new website for the Southeast Coast Saltwater Paddling Trail (SECT): www.secoastpaddlingtrail.com. First introduced at the East Coast Paddlesports & Outdoor Festival, the new SECT website will be the primary source for all-inclusive information on navigating the coastal water trails of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Featuring detailed maps that highlight access sites, lodging and supply centers, paddlers can now travel an unbroken trail of tidal marshes and rivers more than 760 miles along the coasts of all four states.
